2K Fun Stryker Build

2k Fun Stryker

Being I still have an original Stryker air frame I thought Id point out the differences between the what I like to call the "Stryker A model" and the "Stryker B/C models"

The "Stryker A" models were the first. The EPP foam was slightly thicker and weighed about 1 Oz. more than the B/C models. Tape hinges were standard on these early models along with a shorter fatter nose cone. The "A" models came with brushed motor and the ESC didnt support upgrading to lipo cells. As more people went brushless the newer model Stryker B arrived.

The "Stryker B" model now made of Z-foam went through some design changes. Slightly slimmer and lighter for better aerodynamics with more thought put towards cooling. Tape hinges are now replaced with hinge pins and tabs. The ESC now has the ability to use both nicad and lipo by switching a tiny bridge on the ESC. Most think there is no difference between A/B/C fuses but there are minor differences.  Nose cones for example get more stream lined from A thru C models. Yes... there are 3 different nose cones, one for each model and 3 different fuses too.

The "Stryker C" model is basically the same as the "Stryker B" with a couple exceptions. The small piece of foam at center of battery compartment has been removed for better air flow and the nose cone is more narrow and streamlined. The "C" models also came with same updated elevons/hinge tabs as the "B" version with a new 1800kv brushless motor & brushless ESC.

UPDATE:  When buying blank fuses there is a newer thicker trailing edge fuse but it is still called a "C" fuse. No clue why...

How do you know if you got one?

Answer: You will find longer motor mount screws (no mount, just screws for mount) in the corner of bag with the new fuse. How did I get them? Totally by chance cuz I didnt ask for them. I got them thru horizon hobby so if you want one you might try asking in comments section of your order or call and see if you can find one that comes with mount screws. Some places will sell you what ever they have on shelf "B" or "C" and most people wont know the difference. The advantage of these new fuses (if you can get one) is when adding wood elevons after cutting off the foam elevon tabs on fuse you can use slightly thicker wood elevons than standard "C" fuses. Thicker wood elevons are stiffer so control horn screws are less likely to rip out.
